The fifth public meeting was held on September 5, 2007.  The meeting began with a short presentation reviewing the progress to date and introducing the project purpose as drafted by the Project Study Group.  The Project Study Group drafted the project purpose after careful consideration of preliminary project purpose points gathered at Public Meetings #3 & #4.  Click here to view the meeting summary and changes to the statement based on public comment. 

The following illustrates how the issues raised by stakeholder comments are addressed by the project purpose statement:

Preliminary Project Purpose

Provide Transportation Infrastructure on the East Side

of Bloomington/Normal that will accommodate

planned growth and address future mobility needs

Growth

· Issues of Sprawl

· Consistency with Land Use Plans

· Concerns Regarding Farmland

Mobility

· East/West Movement

· North/South Movement

Infrastructure

· Bike Accommodations

· Highway (New/Existing)

· Other Modes of Transportation

The revised project purpose will be presented to the Project Study Group for approval. After the statement is approved, meetings will be held with the Citizens Advisory Group to develop alternates that meet the project purpose.  Click here for a list of criteria for alternate evaluation.
